”We can be friends!” he said again, but his companion grabbed his leg in a dexterous paw, and started frantically tugging at him. The polar bear leaned forward. It's breath stunk of rotten fish, and its teeth were pulled back in a vicious snarl. Uh oh, actually, it didn’t look like it wanted to be his friend.
Before he could do anything else stupid, a voice suddenly called out, yelling at the polar bear. The white beast turned suddenly, and Wylan followed the motion to see what it was looking at. A wolf with tusks was ramming into it, this must be the wolf that had yelled out!
He backpedalled quickly, taking the opening the wolf had given him. But he wasn’t ready to bail out completely, not yet. Instead of making friends with the bear, maybe he could make friends with the wolf? First, he had to help them. The polar bear didn’t look like it appreciated being attacked very much.
As it engaged with the grey wolf, Wylan charged in, swiping behind its leg with extended claws, before dashing back away again. His wings raised defensively around him. “Hey, Mr Bear! Stinky face!” he yelled out as he backed away some more. Wondering if he would be able to take the attention off the bigger wolf for even a moment.
