Marrow
After a string of bad luck Marrow found herself in a vast plain with grasses so tall they could conceal her completely. Maybe she would have better luck hunting here. She'd gone 3 days without eating and her stomach grumbled and gurgled. It felt like there was an empty rock settled there and it was starting to hurt. She lifted her head, searching for any whiff of possible prey. Most of what she caught were the scents of elk and bison, far to large for her.
She weaved her way through the grass until the scent of blood caught her attention. A wounded pronghorn antelope… no, a dead pronghorn antelope. The scent of blood grew thicker and thicker the closer she got until she saw a young male lion feasting on his catch. Marrow's stomach ached and it drove her forward. She didn't intend to drive the lion off necessarily, instead she snuck close, seeking to grab a few scraps. While the lion busied itself in the guts, Marrow reached out to snag some flesh from the neck. No sooner than she ripped in the lion roared and swatted at her. She scrambled back but instead the lion gave chase. Well shit!
