Imogen was happy to take the lead on their adventure, her eagerness bringing a smile to her father’s face. With exaggerated steps and head held high, it was hard not to chuckle. Over the top, but adorable all the same. His sweet girl was acting as she thought a leader should. “There is definitely a prey smell, Tapir among them, you are correct.” His tail wagged behind him as he followed her toward the flooded plain, to where the dams were built. A soft ‘Aaah’ left his lips, ears perked forward as he came to step beside her.

As for that other smell, that is the smell of beaver. They can be dangerous prey, with sharp teeth and large tails. Those houses of sticks you see? They are built by the beavers to slow the flow of water. With the dams, as they are called, water will start to pool up onto other parts of the land, which makes the ground softer and muddy the closer we get.” Beauregard explained. “...and much like at the falls, fish live in the water here too. Getting them in the spots between the dams can make them easier to isolate and catch.” A grin crossed his lips.

“Do you want to see if we can find a beaver? We won’t hunt it, but we can see what it looks like.”
