Marrow

From the humid hell of Auster to the summer heat of Boreas, Marrow worked her way north until at last she found some cooler lands in which to dwell for a time. The journey was energy intensive and her stomach writhed with hunger. She'd had little luck in the few hunts she'd attempted so instead she focused on scavenging. The scent of blood drew her along the base of sheer cliffs where down on the beach she saw a large, white bear eating a seal. Already there were ravens there, picking what they could and scrambling out of the way. That is precisely what Marrow intended to do.

Like a ghost she stalked forward, silent on her cat-like paws as she approached the seal's back. The bear's head was busy in the gut and she snaked her head forward, seizing a chunk of meat from the back and wolfing it down. She had a few mouthfuls swallowed before the bear noticed. And when it did it roared in rage and leapt for her.
