He had overheard his parents explaining to his sisters how this time of year, the temperature was always hot. Even during the night, it never really got cold. This one fine morning though, the temperature had dipped a bit due to a northern wind pulling down from the mountains. Gourami could feel the relieving draft rush by the opening of the den. It was enticing enough to wake him from his restless sleep, blearing eyes blinking a few times, and forcing him to wander slowly outside. Still not fully awake, Gourami wandered farther from the den until he could barely see the den's opening. Plunking his butt down into the soggy grass, he sat and watched the swans flow atop the surface of the nearby lake. Nothing about the scenery gave him joy. It really didn't make him feel any type of way. Just that he was there and existing. That's all he could ask for, right? |
