Ronan was under no delusion that she wouldn't be able to keep pace. Bears were all muscle and she was no exception, paws thudding loud enough for his ears to catch the sound over the rolling waves. His lungs burned as he pushed hard, the finishing line so distant it almost felt futile, but he knew what his body was capable of and shrugged off the discomfort. He could make it, they both could. His paws fell in tandem, a hasty beat of one to four, over and over; the sand getting progressively more saturated with seawater as they pressed on. They were cutting it close, the bridge was starting to flood, instead of kicking up sand they were charging through water as it rose to their ankles. Slowing their progress, making each step all the more of a push, but still pressing on all the same.
