It was a familiar scenario – the predators took to him first, drawn by his size and imposing presence. And as they did, it afforded Kai the opportunity to strike and capitalize on their folly.

Caedes watched with satisfaction as Kaino darted in with lightning speed, her movements fluid. She targeted the feline's hind leg, the injured one, her jaws clamping down as the feline roared in agony and thrashed against her pull. As the cat dropped to its side, Caedes moved in without hesitation, lunging forward, his jaws snapping shut around the vulnerable flesh of the feline's neck.

But instead of the quick kill, he dragged it, musculature brimming just below the surface of his scarred hide. He choked it, its body weakening into feeble scrabbles and wheezes.
