The idea of coming north had been that the weather might be kinder to her condition, but this humid forest only set her skin to itching and sprouting, a growth of glowing mushrooms blocking her right ear and growing from the left-fore armpit. She carried the offending limb close to her chest, so as not to knock the fungi loose (it wasn't worth the pain). Glowing ooze almost sealed her right eye shut from where more had been knocked off by her own flailing limbs in the night, and the vision on her left was obscured by more fungi. She found herself in a catch 22. The steam from the hot springs might loosen her lid enough to open, but the steamy air would encourage her condition to worsen. She decided she would much rather see out of either eye, and perhaps, she could try soaking the growths off (despite all her sisters failed attempts to do the same in the past).

Maybe removing them wouldn't hurt so badly in the water?

Morganna felt the ground sloping up beneath her feet and knew she must be close, but before she could figure out where the edge was she tripped, and fell headfirst into one of the smaller pools with a resounding splash (not that she could hear it, she was still trying to figure out which way was up).
