The call had come for his mother, but Oberon had answered it all the same. It was a challenging howl, one that all but demanded his mother's presence, something that Oberon was vaguely amused by. Who was this wolf to think that he could command Oberon's other to appear? Jupiter would come if she chose, and if she did not choose, then she would not appear. It would be by her own choice if she approached this challenger.

Oberon had the utmost confidence in his mother. Still, he intended to be there for support. The pup was drawing closer to adulthood now, and knew well that he could not allow his mother to face such things by herself. Medusa might make an appearance, and Oberon was sure his mother would appreciate that as well, but he figured his mother would also benefit from the support of a wolf of her own blood.

By the time that his paws reached the edge of the battlefield, a small group of wolves had already gathered. His mother was first and foremost among them, facing a slightly smaller black wolf with mismatched eyes. Oberon twitched his ears, letting only a single word fall from his maw; "Mother," It was only one word, but Oberon allowed a hint of pride to leak into his voice. He was proud of her. He might not have ever said it, but he was, and he knew that she would defeat this foolish challenger.

With that, the male fell back, tail curling around his paws as he settled down to watch, knowing that he would probably have to restrain himself from entering the fray to defend his mother. But it would not be fair if he chose to interfere, he knew, and it was likely that Oberon would be more of a hindrance than a benefit if he tried to leap to his mother's rescue. She could handle this.
