Fear. It's fear that she can't choke back, fear that she can't control. More afraid than she's been since arriving here, and with the acute knowledge and understanding that there's no one who can help her. No one who can save her, no one who can get between Sid and her. Terror gripping the girl's system, though she tried to stay cool. Tried to stay collected. Taking one step backwards, and then another, unwilling to turn her back to Sid lest she regret it.
There's something wrong in this moment, though Jael doesn't know how to put that to words. Something is wrong. This... this can't be Siduri, can it? "We can talk about this, Sid, I'm sorry," the words come as a whisper, a plea. The girl is whale-eyed, her mouth dry. A tremble that starts in her joints threatens to overtake Jael's entire system.
Run. It's not Sid's voice, it sounds wrong. Everything is wrong. More afraid than perhaps she's ever been, Jael turns tail and begins to run. It's near-blind, panic written all over her features. Something is deeply, irrevocably wrong. Gripping the dry earth beneath her feet, Jael takes off at a dead sprint.
