Go the Distance

The longer he waited, the more antsy he became. Wylan probably wasn't gone that long, in fairness, but Seneca still became a little fidgety  y the time he saw the dark form of his new friend emerge from the cave. He motioned with a wing, and the gray boy nearly sprinted to follow. He joined Wylan in the alcove and looked at the maps he had spread out, his eyes shining with wonder.

"These... These are great!" His voice was a harsh whisper, only wanting his co-conspirator to hear. He snatched one of the snacks and chewed absently as he looked st each map carefully, pouring over the details. He hummed as he pointed out random details, his tail thumping rhythmically on the ground.. He wasn't quite an expert yet, but he was able to generally read them. He was most interested in the star map. He pointed to it, looking up to Wylan. "You ever look at one of these before? It shows the constellations in relation to each other, and where they'd be in the night sky - depending on the time of year. Takes a lot of work to make one. And almost as much to learn to use one. Regular maps are easier, of course, but I've always wanted to learn how to use the star charts." He took another bite, unaware he may be rambling. "Do you know how accurate these are?" he asked around a mouthful.
