On Top Of The World

The season's change had come. And with it, his turn from boy to young man. A teenager, a bit bolder, a touch more mature in the grand scheme of things; but only just. Crimson-furred and self assured, he stood tall in light of the change. His eyes, a fiery golden, glimmered with intrigue as he listened intently to the echoing call of his mother. What could it be?

Confusion mingled with curiosity as Redrum trotted through the underbrush, his agile vermillion form darting forward towards the summons. He had never known his mother to summon the pack without reason, and the mystery of the gathering intrigued him.

As he arrived at the meeting place, his eyes fixed on the imposing figure of his mother at the center. And next to her… Enki, atop his own throne. The boy, easygoing as he could be, bristled at the sight. He approached with heavy steps, his crimson frame, which had long outgrown his mother's, now took on a protective rigidity, as if shielding himself from the unsettling prospect before him. Musculature twitching all over as his eyes betrayed his uncertainty, questioning the unfamiliarity of the situation. Lacking proper socialization, his instinctual aversion to change rendered him feral in his reaction. His jaw snapped a few times, teeth clicking and clacking as he fought off an excited series of spasms. Was his mother stepping down? Had she come to her senses of his faults and decided the pack was better off with a different heir? Regardless of the answer, he kept a solid stare on the pair, waiting for the purpose of the gathering to be announced. He could manage that much out of respect, lest he relinquish control to his hormones and allow them to dictate his actions before he got an explanation out of them.
