Quackers

Gavroche stood there and watched the ducks as they made their way through the flooded grass. They were noisy, loudly announcing their presence before they picked at some of the wet leafy goodness under the surface. His tail swished thoughtfully behind him… hunting rodents on land was one thing, but trying to grab prey from the water would be another. The water didn't look very deep where they were but that didn't mean it couldn't get deeper. Gavroche didn't mind swimming but he knew he wasn't the fastest swimmer out there… there was no way he’d be able to keep up with them if they took off… but maybe if he stayed in the shallow parts he could use his dexterous digits to grab ahold of the earth below the surface to help steady himself?

His intentions had to have been written all over on his face because when Trixy showed up she commented on it. An embarrassed twitch of his ears were given before the boy turned to look at her. “I was thinking about it… though hunting them on the water could prove more difficult. The ducklings can't fly like their parents but… they can swim pretty fast, right?” Gav’s expression was thoughtful as he looked out over the water. Would it make more sense to circle around to the other bank and try from there? He frowned and looked back at Bellatrix. She knew more about hunting than he did.

“I’m not sure what the best way to approach them is though… you've never hunted ducks before?”
