Aresenn had just finished a routine patrol of their territory, his breath visible in the harsh midwinter air when. He had just emerged from the northern forest line when he spotted Absinth dart from their den and crumple at the edge of the clearing- retching in the grass. Without wasting a moment, he began a swift descent into the valley. The frozen turf crunched between his paws as he paced across the open expanse between them, his eyes shadowed by concern. Her body seemed small and fragile under the steel grey sky, a sight entirely at odds with the fierce woman he knew her to be. He pushed through the small flock of ravens who had begun to gather, ignoring their anxious caws as he knelt beside her prone form. "Absinth," Aresenn growled, “Are you ill?”

He reached out a cautious paw, carefully cradling her flushed cheek- palid and clammy under his touch. A sour taste filled his mouth as he inspected her, his gaze skimming over her shivering form. The fact that she was down without a visible wound or enemy nearby was unnerving.
