Mortis responded to the call of his Kea, and turned in time to see the purple wolf that raced towards him. As she bunched her haunches to leap, he lifted himself as high as he could, spreading his wings up on either side of his body so that her forward momentum could only carry her towards his shoulders. At the same instance, he attempted to push forward, to knock her off balance if she committed to the leap. Regardless of whether or not he was able to compromise her balance, he would attempt a strike of his fangs towards her neck. His thoughts, even as the battle began, on how his children were faring.
