At her gesture, the sailor settled down beside her. His recovery was early enough that his body needed a lot of fuel to repair itself. He took her offering, knowing he already owed her more than he could repay. He munched on a dried strip of flesh and wasn’t terribly surprised by her question.

He shook his head, remembering the sudden storm. The attack, one of his brothers screaming. A few more ragged pieces of his ship had washed up to shore, but he did not think it likely any wolves would be found on them. “We were attacked by something in the sea, I saw at least one of my brothers fall. The other two? I don’t think it’s likely.” He said, shaking his head. “They would have washed ashore by now.” He glanced out at the ocean, as if his words would encourage such a sight.
