Beneath the veil of fear

The growl that reverberated off the walls of the cavern was guttural and vicious, slicing through the space between them with ease, boring into Delaeni’s skin until it pierced straight through. He branded her with his animosity, the bitter taste of paranoia dancing across his tongue. What was she hiding from him? Mistrust swirling at the edges of his mind, the urge to quell and punish eating away at existing rationality.

And as he stalked forward, each silent step was deliberate and predatory- adrenaline coursing through his veins like liquid fire, every muscle fiber coiled and ready to unhinge at any given moment. Every gasp she took was a catalyst, beckoning him forward, his heightened senses attuned to the smallest sounds as he closed in on her. Backing her against the wall, until the stone was pressing into her back, she was fumbling over her words, frantic and impulsive, trying to soothe his festering temper with words of affirmation.

But it was a futile attempt- and Sephiran would respond with a flash of his teeth, a ferocious snarl gurgling from his throat. Lunging forward, he grabs her by the shoulder, sinking his saber fangs deep into the subcutaneous tissue, penetrating to the muscle. With a violent thrust, he’s using his bite as leverage and throwing her to the ground, moving to pin her between himself and the cold, hard earth. “Liar,” He seethes, tongue writhing out of his mouth to slide across his teeth, a visceral reaction to the taste of fear in the air. “Tell me why you left Saffron- what did Azoula do.” Accusatory, spiteful, and rabid. Sephiran was but a victim of the persecutory delusions that ate away at his mind.
