Hala made a good show of trying to catch the "lapin"(oops, my bad) well. She nearly got it with her teeth but it darted away heading his direction. He was ready for it just in case and descended upon the varmint just before it skittered back into its hole. Its alarmed squeal cut short with a sharp crunch of his thick jaws, ending it quickly.
He placed the meal before Hala, mumbling a soft thanks to the creature for its life source to feed them, and ripped a back leg off for himself.
"You did well! I know it's not much, but the rest is for you." He said, the leg at his feet. "I'll be returning home now. But I hope the world is much kinder to you from here, Hala." He said warmly. He gave her a bow of his head and started back home on his own—rabbit leg in his jaw.
