The terrain here did not call for many places to hide. Especially not one of his caliber. This didn’t stop him from moving about the sandy tundra like a serpent. Light paws slid over the dusted surface beneath them with every step. His ears listening the closer they reached the gathering of Mule deer. Their bray’s louder than ever. Something was afoot and it had absolutely nothing to do with the two of them. Clashing sent waves through winter’s air. Bellows of condensed clouds from heavy breaths formed around two particularly busy males. Their horns at work as they battled one another. It didn’t take a genius to notice the gathering of females grazing with a watchful eye. Waiting on the anticipation of which one would sire their next brood. Dark, glossy gaze unannounced to what was soon to transpire. He used their fighting to inch closer to them. Silence was met with no movement. Noise was greeted with them sealing the distance. Circling around to where neither of them would be detected. |
