Her muscles coiled like springs, ready to launch her in any direction. She noticed his paw moving back, slow but deliberate, and she lunged for it. However, Wylan managed to evade her grasp just in time, his reflexes sharp and agile. A low, appreciative growl rumbled in her chest as she realized he had kept the feather out of her reach.

“Well, well, looks like you had plenty of moves up your sleeve. Just like that feather.” She admitted with a smirk, her breath coming in quick, excited pants as she took a step back from him, her aqua gaze peering up at him with indignation. “I suppose I’ll concede this one to you, Wylan. But don’t think for a second that I’m going to make it easy next time. You’ve earned your win today. I’ll earn mine.”

Her tail flicked behind her, a mixture of respect and anticipation in her gaze. Barghest loved a good challenge, and Wylan had proven himself a worthy opponent. But the taste of defeat stung even still.
