It’s part of the Noise

Elysia lay with her four perfectly healthy children nestled carefully against her body. She watched as they fought over the best place to eat and as their belly’s grew round and plump with her milk and she couldn’t help but feel pride. She wondered if this is how her mother had felt about her own children. If she had laid their watch herself, Zeke and the other’s the way she now watched over her own children.

She had given birth to babies as colorful as their father and grandmother, each one unique as the last. She was happy to see just how many different combinations and patterns they had been gifted. While she herself often felt bland standing against some of her kin and even her lover and his family, her children would blend in perfectly.

She couldn’t wait for them to start growing larger so she could mold them into the saxe Prodigy they were born to be. It’s all she could think about as she watched their wriggling forms the day after she’d birthed them. And as the other had come to look at the newest members of the Syndicate.

She never knew when someone would come by to bring her food or to look over the pups. But she’d grown used to everyone popping in and out already. Though there was times when she wanted to kick everyone out and just sleep.
