(note: set before Twig's death, still in winter!)
No matter what his children thought of themselves, Corvus had never been anything but proud. They were all different in their own ways, but above all else they were good - they loved one another, and themselves, and that was all he could ask of them. Ensuring they were capable and had good hearts was about his only goal. It didn't matter what kind of lives they lived, only that they lived them the way they wanted and were happy. That was the sort of life he'd lived, and he'd do it all again a million times over if it meant they'd still be with him at the end.
As the weeks turned to seasons, Corvus found himself slowing down, he and Twig both. Most days he spent in the quiet of their den, or somewhere else in Avalon's tranquil lands, doing what he could when he was able. Fortunately their children were independent and didn't require much of them, though he wished still he could do more for them.
He let out a strained sigh as he moved across the field, his joints feeling the ache of winter. Corvus moved slowly these days and though he was still getting used to his body beginning to fail him, he wasn't ready to lay down permanently quite yet. The feeling of the sun against his dark coat was invigorating in spite of the weather though, and as he continued moving he felt his limbs loosening up and moving more freely.
Finding his daughter Vine working on something, he moved to greet her, lowering his head and giving her a gentle nuzzle on the top of her head - just like when she as a pup - before moving to lower himself next to her. "What are you working on, my love?"
