Cold. Everything is cold. Why is snow so cold? I want to be back home with Momma, where is she? I miss her so much...I can't even remember the last time I saw her...That stupid dog, why did she have to take me away? Why did she have to take me from Momma? I didn't do anything bad. I was just sitting on my rock under the stars; the ocean singing it's sweet music. Then she came, and I tried to run...but I wasn't fast enough. The pain, I had never felt pain before. Not until I was taken to that horrible place...the place where I saw Avalon. Had she been taken too? I didn't get a chance to be with her...but she looked hurt. Ugh...I don't even know where I am!

Kestrel sat, her haunches settling into the snow. She looked around, eyes wide and scared. Her stomach rumbled, unable to recall when she had last eaten, though she was sure it was quite some time ago. She couldn't exactly tell. Her stomach constantly pained her, the berries had been very scarce since winter had arrived, and the left overs from other creatures kills were not enough. She wanted to find her mother, to seek the warmth and comfort of her silky soft pelt. She wanted the comfort of someone, anyone! To see some sign of life, she craved some sort of interaction. Even though she couldn't talk, as far as she knew and as far as she tried. She was bereft of that simple task.

Her vocals produced a small whine, a whimper that would hardly be classified as a whimper or whine of any sort at all. She had never been able to talk, or laugh, or bark, or anything. The most she could do was produce strange airy noises. Although it had been quite a long time since she ever tried...then again, had she really tried? She felt it didn't matter. She would never be able to talk anyway. Her brothers always got to laugh and talk and tell their mother what they had seen and done. Oh her brothers...she even missed them and their annoying shenanigans...A tear would find itself at the brim of her eye, slowly trickling down her face, a trail following it. She would sit there, lost and shivering from the cold. Hungry, and scared from being lost and unable to figure out how to get back home where she would be safe and sound.
