Yara was taken aback when Basilisk agreed to her suggestion and entrusted her with the critical task of assisting him directly. She hadn't expected to be given such a significant responsibility, especially considering her status as a Songbird. The weight of his trust filled her with a sense of admiration and strengthened her resolve. It was a rare opportunity to prove her worth to him, that she could be useful as more than just a Songbird. She could hardly believe her own thoughts, was that really what she wanted?
She watched Wilder head off into the woods, his resolve apparent, and then turned her focus back to Basilisk. Taking a deep breath, she steadied herself and prepared to follow his lead. The gravity of their task loomed over her, but she was ready to face it head-on.
Following close behind Basilisk, Yara kept her senses alert, ready to carry out his orders. She was determined to do everything in her power to help contain the disease and protect the pack. As they moved towards the affected area, she silently vowed to make a difference, no matter how daunting the task ahead of her might be. She would offer to lead him most of the way to the corpse of the deer, until the smell of rot could take the lead from her, and then she would follow his flank and wait for further instruction.
