Deimos had clearly not been anticipating the ferocity of the counterattack, as Artorias managed to scruff the other brute with little resistance. Once he had Deimos' neck in his jaws, then the Mendacium alpha realized the trouble he was in, far too late though. Artorias pressed down on Deimos while the other brute shoved and tried to push him off balance. Though he was lighter weight, Artorias' footing was sure, and he refused to be toppled. However, when Deimos began to pull at his leg at the same time, then Art felt his balance shift, beginning to wobble as he was hobbled with one leg pulled off the ground. Unable to disengage or risk being tossed and pinned, Artorias instead tried to use the momentum of Deimos' shoving against his foe, timing the other wolf's next shove and instead twisting his body to pull on Deimos' scruff along with the shove, aiming to use his opponent's own momentum and weight to pull him off his paws and throw him to the ground.
