Steel and claw

Normally when Thorn fought he wouldn’t be as close to his opponent due to the long reach of his blade, it would put him at a disadvantage. This fight was one that demanded being in close and his jaws ached to put the swords hilt in there. His attack for the neck missed and as Deimos raised his neck. Thorn felt a horn graze his cheek, there was a small sting to let him know it had connected with flesh. There was a thin line of blood to show the skin torn but so thin it would heal over fast.

When Deimos put his impressively-sized paw up to shove Thorn back his first instinct was to resist, the claws be damned. A second later he realized that he should do something different than what instinct told him. Thorn relaxed into the pressure, pivoted to the right, and attempted to bite the leg before Deimos could put it back firmly on the ground. The idea was to hold the paw in his mouth and try to again push his weight into Deimos to get him on the ground. Thorn's jaws were strong, both by his natural bone and the muscles gained from grasping that heavy sword, so he would be careful to only put pressure on the leg to suggest he could bite in deeper but not doing so. Hopefully holding back didn’t damage his ability to win the match. At least it was a hindrance both had to deal with.
