This spring morning was gathering up the mists over the sound from the early hours. Xina was looking for a toasty rock along the edge of the water steeped in sunlight. She found a nice tall one and climbed over a smaller rock to leap to the one she had her eye on. The waters lapped lazily at the stony shoreline.
She was just about to curl up for a cozy nap when a hollow low wet roar sounded below her! The sound reverberated in her chest like her ribs were a solid drum. She pulled herself quietly to the edge of the rock and peered over it. A long large brown seal had pulled itself out of the water! It huffed a spray of snot and seawater at her face! This was bigger than any seal she had ever seen! What seal has tusks? It lumbered forward daring her to come closer. She growled at it, this was her sunny spot!
What bug eyed tusked worm dared to challenge a syndicate wolf for their right to the beach!? The audacity! Her fur bristled as she snarled back at the creature she would soon learn was a female walrus.
