Insects hummed in the background as Coran drank. He licked the water off his chin and leaned back into the grass. Pulling his hind legs closer to his body, he wrapped his tail around himself. His ears flicked up as he heard someone approach. Through the grass his brother appeared and asked how he was doing. "Better than yesterday, yet still worse than I was."
Coran sighed heavily. "The slowness of this recovery is proving as hard as the disease, perhaps even harder now that I'm aware of every slowness and ache in my body." He mustered a gentle smile. It was his burden to bear and he would bear it. "And you? I feel it's been awhile since we last talked."
