How Eltrys began the lesson had Gavroche arching his brow. It was not directly an herbal lesson, but he was using herbs to describe it. Stinging nettle, a plant that Gavroche had quickly learned was something to avoid. Just encountering one was an unpleasant experience, leaving lasting stings from the little pricks it could give. But in greater numbers the plant was even more threatening… and each part of the plant aided its growth and defense. Gavroche listened quietly, enjoying the lesson thus far. But he had always been keen to listen when mention of herbs was on the tongue.

Then came the question posed to the group, his aunt answering first. Gav gave a small nod of agreement. “I’ve encountered the plant myself once, and it is less than pleasant just dealing with the one. The stinging lasts even as you move away from the plant because of the prick of the hairs along it. Each hair is like a needle, filled with a chemical similar to ant bites in a way… That said, I’d much rather only deal with the one myself. The greater the number, the more pain that can be caused.”
