The fire wolf shook his head, and bared his teeth at Ultyr, the motion more teasing than threatening as the other wolf took down the sheep. Flare pulled one of its legs out from under it before it could lash out at the brown wolf, and after a moment its struggling stopped and it lay still, and dead. Flare then turned to the lamb, which belated senselessly, too frightened or stupid to run away.

He stepped to its tiny form, and snapped its fragile neck between his teeth. It was almost too easy, and he tossed its corpse beside that of its mother. “I’ll get the lead next time Flare challenged his hunting partner.
