Summer didn't hold back the sweltering heat of its gaze from the earth. Not even the cool breeze of evening could stop the assault. It beamed down like crashing waves. Causing Cressida to pant against the onslaught. Such disrespect she felt towards the sun. Caring more for the spring and surely missing the feel of rain caressing her coat. Had it not been a thought to seek out her father, she would surely be hiding away in the caves where she were born. Or maybe beneath the shades of looming trees.
Instead, here she was lingering just outside the borders of her father's home. His scent traveled along the length in either direction. Mixed in with a variety of others that left her mind swirling. Excitement scratched at her insides and had it not been so hot, she probably would have jumped with the display of such an emotion. Gaze slid over the tall plains that stretched miles in front of her. Hunger now coming to light. The dryness of her throat ached with a need for a water. But, none of that mattered right now.
Cressida's head slid back. Lips falling forward to allow the calling of beckon. Why live in a world where she only knew one side of her family? As much as she loved her mother and her brother, she didn't feel quite at home in their lands. As if something else called her away. Which is why she sought out her father. In hopes to learn more about him and where he came from.
