Into what is probably danger

Acere hadn’t seen anything of the like either. Bellamy drew in a slow breath, her ears perked as she stepped toward one of the tall spikes that rose up from the earth. It appeared ancient, weathered… and yet, just as Ace said, it was as if the land had appeared overnight. Bellamy’s mind flicked back to the trial by fire she’d experienced back during her time of grieving Gavroche. “There have been other strange events in this land. The lava caverns I walked through some time ago, the volcano eruption, the endless night… It is as if the land seeks to punish those of us here… maybe a purge of some sort…” The old woman furrowed her brow as she stopped at one of the spikes.

The ground had looked firm around most of them, but the earth here was loose. Bellamy began to dig, her gaze focused on the etchings upon the spike. Then the wind came, blowing through the holes of the spires, and Bellamy froze, fur standing on end. She glanced back at Acere, her heart starting to race. Still her breath came fast, and she drew back closer to him, a snort leaving her. “I can’t shake the feeling that something is coming.” And if it came, she would be ready. “Ace… how long do you think you can hold your corporal form?” She asked.
