digging a hole, a diggy diggy hole

Flare and his slave were digging, when suddenly the ground shifted beneath him. His first thought was earthquake and his second was oh shit. He had no time for any others before he was falling, and the ground met him too fast at the bottom. He landed hard, and he landed funny. He let out a noise, somewhere between a yelp and a groan as he felt something twist in his paw.

He pulled himself back to his paws, shaking off the debris and reached forward. Finding Dem, he pulled her towards him. Pulling her into the space between his forelegs as he took stock of where they were and what dangers there might be. All the while trying not to lean on his injured paw.
