Toes spread wide across the hot grass. Paws pressed deep into the soils. Claws easily uprooting the earth below with no effort. Ears drew back to lay briefly across a lowered head. Only snapping forward to capture the sounds of life.
Their travels around this land had led them to an area unknown. Though it smelled heavily of prey and passing predators. She happening to be one many. Had it not been for Helonia, they would have been far more ahead than now. But the selfish woman wanted to hunt. Which Melanth chose not to ignore. Knowing very well how sinister her other half could get.
Body shifted to better prepare for the launch. Bloody gaze locked onto the herd of wandering mule deer. A species she took notice rarely left the safety of high altitude. So what brought them so far down from the cliffs? To graze? Either way, Helonia forced herself through. Pushing Mela to the back of their mind. "Finally."
Attention quickly rose to the circling of the crow above. Their untamed, claimed, companion. She didn’t understand what was taking Melanth so long to own the damn bird. If it were up to her, she’d eat the damn thing and call it a day. From the darkness of her mind, she could hear a low threatening growl. Dismissing it with a shrug as she pushed onward on silent steps.
Lunch time.
