The Elephant in the room

Citadel ran ahead of the giant creature, having a grand old time as the older wolves attacked its legs. He dodged its trunk as it swung it with a mighty cry, and let out a whoop of delight when it bellowed again, falling to its knees. He turned back when the older wolves started swarming it, hacking at its vulnerable points as they bled it, until he heard someone cut its throat.

As it let out its dying bellow, he jumped and crawled up its shoulders to its head. Sitting behind its flappy ears for a moment, feeling as if he could see the whole world from up here.
