Leaves crunched softly under delicate paws, moving as lightly as they could so as to not disturb too much around him. The small wolf hadn't stopped moving this time, heading anywhere but where he currently was and having to make up for lost time. His fur was still ruffled with sleep and a stray leaf or two stuck to him. Unkempt, he felt so unkempt, but he had to find another stream or creek to travel through. He had thought his running was over so long ago when he had escaped the first who took his freedom from him. But his running never truly stopped. From one master to the next, passed from old paws to new paws, collar to chain, his life was just a whirlwind of hurt. This current beast though, would break him. He knew this. Bahamut was a monster, breaking bones easily simply to elicit a reaction.
’It might be more this time, might break something important for running away.’’ It was that thought that spurred him to pick up his pace some as he hurried through the ungrowth. Until he heard it, a voice that settled in his veins and poured ice water down his spine. His name sung from somewhere nearby. Close enough to have Sugusik's heart slamming against his ribs and sick trying to bubble up as his stomach rolled. His only thought was to run, scramble for purchase as he willed his legs to work for him. Instead he simply sank to the floor amongst the undergrowth and dead leaves. Praying to whoever was listening that he survived this.
