The rumble, the deep tenor of his voice, the way he was so, so appreciative. Her body responded in kind. Belly twisting, butterflies fluttering, cheeks warming as her chin turns so that her turquoise eyes stare firmly at the window. Selling herself short was just a part of who she was. Being a princess, the Envoy, having aspirations to be a part of the Council, it all came with a price. A constant worry that everything she did was never enough. Thankfully, other than Ember, her other siblings didn't really seem interested in the hierarchy. As long as Tati continued letting Dusk be the Hallows' gargoyle, Bramble didn't think anyone would really stand the way of her climbing toward the top. But she wasn't a glory hog either. If those damn bears didn't have a penchant for attacking her, Quill wouldn't be in this position. Maybe, by the way his words grated against his teeth, it was fate for their paths to cross.
She catches the sardonic smile from the corner of her eye and finally turns back to admire his marbled features. The braids definitely added to his ruggedness. As much as she wants to reach out and tug on one playfully, Bramble holds herself back. It wouldn't do for her to behave so... closely with her sister's boyfriend. They had just met after all. It would be weird to do such a thing.
Maybe she should be focusing on what he's saying instead of contemplating rebraiding his braids. Drawing her brows together, lips pursing slightly, Bramble lets out a disappointed huff through her nostrils. "Lyss was never really the most social out of our group. Always kind of preferred her books and thoughts and being not around," her head cants, thinking back. Really, none of them, aside from herself, had ever really been the social types. Taking after their mother most likely who often was seen only when she wished. Bramble didn't blame them. Being royalty was difficult to be. "And I take it you don't want me informing her that you're here?" A brow raises, a smirk teasing at her relaxing expression.
