Gotta Go Fast

Running, running, running. The acrid stench of the tar bit into Star's nose but she tried to ignore it, stealing breaths through her mouth here and there. One of the larger pits bubbled, throwing tar onto the pathway and Star fought to alter her speed so that she could cut around it. Claws scrambled at the dry ground and she almost careened headfirst into one of the pits, but managed to keep herself on track. She did get some tar one her front paws though and that would be a bitch to get off, but she'd manage.

Once they hit the end of the biggest pits and thus the finish line, Starchild slowed to a halt, turning to look at the maned fae. Her tongue lolled out in a pant but there was humor in her cyan eyes. A strange place to have a race, but they'd done it. "Who...Won?" she asked, still catching her breath.
