Barghest barely registered the chaos—her focus narrowed to the creature before her. Someone had died. A sacrifice burned in her mind, fueling her fury all the more. She snarled low, each sound tearing from her throat like a chainsaw.

The worm thrashed, its rage shaking the cavern, but Barghest didn’t flinch. She saw the cracks forming in its frozen hide, the telltale glint of weakness beneath the hardened surface. It was bleeding. Good.

Using the chaos to her advantage, she launched herself at the beast’s flank again, claws extended to grip its ice-slick hide. Her teeth snapped down, aiming for one of the fissures in its armor. She twisted violently, tearing with all the strength in her body, her claws scrabbling for purchase.

Let it rage. Let it thrash. She was all rage. All vengeance.
