The Unraveling - It Rises

Seere stands at the edge of the cliffside, gazing imploringly at the putrid creature as other wolves appear some on the same level, some on beach and some even begin to attack. The small woman that is on top of the cliff with her has her leg broken when the beast hurls whatever she had thrown at it back to her and nausea rolls through her gut as her mismatched gaze flick over the stranger, readying to move and offer her some help… when suddenly, everything changes.
The pink male had been poised to strike, his muscles coiled and, in one explosive motion, it is released and he is sailing through the air, framed in the moonlight for one terrifying moment as if he is some vengeful spirit given wings. The beast moves, lunging forward and grabbing the doomed man from the air as a child might pluck a feather that twirls slowly to the ground. With a sickening crunch, its jaws snap shut and it shakes its head, spraying blood and viscera over the gathered wolves.
A paw lands in front of her and Seere back peddles hard, eyes filling with tears as her heart thunders her chest and a droning sound drowns out all voices. It writhes, hurting some and killing others and a scream born of anger, helplessness, and utter disbelief rips its way loose from her throat. The metallic tang of blood fills the air, coats her throat, chokes her breath and the small healer stumbles sideways, watching as the one stranger quickly sets her broken leg.
Help. She has to help.
Calmness washes through her and she steps toward the injured woman, rummaging through her pack to pull a small bundle of herbs out and passes them to the lady while saying, “For the pain.” Her voice is stiff, eyes wide with horror but there is determination burning brightly behind her gaze. With that done, she turns and races to the wolf who has a dislocated shoulder and hurriedly says, “I’m a healer. Let me help you get that back into place.”
As she unshoulders her pack, Seere turns and yells to all the gathered wolves both above and below, “All those that have been injured, come to me! I will get you back in fighting shape!” There is a boldness in her voice, a promise of help and a glimmer of hope as begins to set about her trade, pulling pain killing herbs from her bag while turning her gaze to the stranger and gently saying, “Here, these will help with the pain. I can pop the joint back in but it will be painful.” A sad, sorrowful smile ticks at her lips and waits, ready to help the stranger if they will allow it.
Seere has a male Pallas's cat named Paunch and a female barn swallow named Aisling. They are always nearby.
