home for the holidays

It was taking a while to settle back in to her surroundings. Makara had been on the move for so much of her life the past few years that finally stopping almost felt like a mistake. Was she meant to return here? Her pale eyes tipped up towards the sinking sun, admiring the way that the dark sand sparkled beneath it. Although her goggles were safely secured to her head, she'd recently done an excellent job of cleaning the lenses and the territory was visible in sharp detail through the glass. The spring weather had come to Boreas and whipped a merry, chilly wind across the waves, rending them choppy and foamy as they crashed against the shore. It was comforting here, enclosed by the tall pillars of lava rock, almost because she didn't have any memories of this place. The territories Armada had laid claim to once were different from its current footprint. Time had marched on without her.
