All of it is exciting, and the lion thinks he's crafty. Hell yeah. He'd been nothing but nice to Davey, and the child is eager to show off in his own way.

The teeth come in, toward his face. Davey backpedals-- this are big teeth. Though he wouldn't be shaken from it, at least, wouldn't be shaken until the massive (soft) paw cuffs him in the shoulder. In retaliation, Davey tries to reach out and grab onto it. It would steady him, and he'd be able to get a chomp at it... hopefully.
