Into the Depths: Investigating the Shimmering Shore Tunnels (Group 3)

The worm writhes under the pressure of trying to digest Gilgamesh; somewhere beneath its head, its flesh bulges out against the pressure of the consumed wolf.

Blubbery flesh begins to give way beneath Fable and Araxina's frenzied attacks, viscous liquid spilling out and coating the ground, as well as their paws and muzzles.

Levi jumps up, gouging the worm and creating long gashes down its body.

The wounds, although not deep, cause the worm's flesh to begin to ripple. But no- it's not the worm, but something inside it. Its slick flesh begins to writhe, rippling and bulging with growing intensity.

A muffled, nauseatingly wet sound begins to echo through the cavern with each movement the monstrous beast makes.

Abruptly the worm's midsection tears open, ichor spraying out in thick spurts, coating the fur of everyone nearby. Sinew is torn clean through as fangs pierce through flesh from within, and the worm unleashes a deafening, ground-shattering screech.

The tear widens, and Gilgamesh emerges- coated in sticky flesh and blood and goo, collapsing in a barely-recognizable heap on the ground. His chest rises and falls slowly, proof that he's alive, albeit just barely.

The worm's insides begin to spill out, a writhing mess of unrecognizable innards, steaming in the cool underground air. In its rage it convulses uncontrollably, each shudder causing the ground to shake, rocks beginning to dislodge from the ceiling and come raining down. The oppressive darkness is finally broken, light beginning to stream down from the fractures above.

The worm's rage is blind and chaotic. Dust thickens the air as it convulses, tremors intensifying- after a long series of tremors, an exit is revealed, a large shaft of light revealing a potential path to the world above.

The worm gives one final, sickening lurch. One final rumble tears through the ground, a massive rock dislodging from above and striking Levi's neck. His death is swift, his body collapsing instantaneously. There's no further sign of movement from him, nor from the worm, which collapses in a heap on the cave's floor, visible as the dust slowly begins to settle.
