Depollute me, pretty baby

Lea turned to Redrum as he spoke of how fear kept them alive, and she realized he had mistaken what she had meant. Her eyes softened as she spoke again, "I meant I do not fear you, pretty boy. I agree fear does keep us alive, it drives us in more ways than one. Fear changes us, pushes us to do better, be more." She hoped he understood that she agreed with him. Fear was a fickle thing, ever-changing, always affecting others, and sometimes it was overpowering. She took a soft breath before continuing, "I believe there are times where fear is needed and then there are times where it is not, yes? Right now, with you, here in this valley, I don't think it's needed. Do you?" she asked softly, green eyes moving to look into his. For a moment her offer of friendship was met with silence, and she wondered if he was going to deny her. She would not push it onto him if he didn't want to be her friend. But then his voice is in her ears, ever so gently as he tastes the word and she is grinning back at him. He asked again if she wanted to be his friend, maybe for reassurance, or maybe he was not used to such relations. Either way, she answered, her voice confident and gentle all the same, "Yes Redrum." she offered with a faint nod of her head as she studied him. He spoke again, and she felt a small bit of warmth well in her chest as he offered her a half grin. "I told you strange isn't always bad." she said softly, the same amusement reflected in Leora's eyes. She watched intently as he conjured up a response, ever the patient individual. Never pushing or rushing, just watching with a soft reassuring smile. He spoke about how hunting was challenging and she nodded along, she agreed with that. And then his gaze was lingering on her and she was unsure if she should speak, so she didn't. Letting him have the time he needed, at least that was what she thought. Soon enough she noticed him shifting and moving. Her eyebrow lifted slightly, curiosity evident in her warm gaze. He continued, speaking of how prey is not all the same, and then he continued by saying his favorite prey is big cats. And she thinks for a second, yes, that fits him. He was similar to a feline in his own way she could understand. And then he is speaking of how they fight back, that they are strong, clever, and equal in battle. "I understand that, fighting whether it's for pure combat or food. It is not the same, does not fulfill you the same if the prey does not fight back." She murmured, thinking about the fights she had been in. While her combat skills with wolves were still a work in progress, still learning how to combat another in close quarters, hunting dangerous predators was not nearly as new. "If I had to say what my favorite thing to fight was I'd probably share your opinion, I enjoy the fight, it is not the same sort of enjoyment if it is something that wants to escape or is pitiful." she said with a nod. Looking at Red briefly, for a moment she wondered what it would be like to spar with him. The feeling of their bodies moving together in an effort to beat each other, she had no doubt he would inevitably win. But she did not doubt that she would be able to stand against him as an equal during the fight itself, she knew she could handle even more than she could dish. She wondered if he'd like that. She shook her head briefly, moving to give him a gentle bump against his shoulder if he let her. "Someday, maybe if you would like, I would be happy to meet you on the battlefield. I promise you won't need to hold back against me, I will give you everything I have when it comes to a good sparring match." She'd offer with a cheesy smile at the end, she enjoyed the rush that fights gave her. Even if she was a healer and was not the fondest of causing others pain when it came to fights that were agreed upon? She would always let loose. |
