The tremors had been felt even in the quietest corners of the abandoned resort. Oath's cyan eyes widened with concern as he woke from the bed he'd been nested with Fairytale, quickly he rose and rushed through the undergrowth, the rhythmic clang of his golden jewelry marking his steps. His heart raced, not with fear, but with a determination born from the thought of protecting the rest of the band that was residing on this island.
When he broke through the dense thicket, he caught sight of his sister Atreyu, her stance steady despite the chaos, and his brother Vayne, resolute and focused. Nearby stood Azriel, Oath's closest friend, whose presence gave him courage. Around them, others had gathered, as they watched the monstrous worm claw its way toward the edge of the island. Its iridescent scales shimmered like a cruel mockery of beauty, and its thrashing appendages sent shivers down Oath’s spine.
Positioning himself beside his siblings, Oath squared his shoulders, his horns catching the moonlight like a fiery crown in the night. For a moment, he closed his eyes and whispered a prayer for those around him to hear.
"Great Kiska, Mother of Light in the Darkness, guide us through this trial. Your children stand united beneath your full moon, seeking the strength to protect what we hold dear. May your light pierce the shadow of this beast, granting us courage where fear lingers."
He paused, shifting his gaze to his siblings and Azriel, as if drawing strength from their presence before he closed his eyes and continued again.
"Cordova, Keeper of War and Peace, lend us your wisdom in this battle. Let your twin faces watch over us, and we may act with the ferocity of war to bring peace. Guide our claws to bring swift justice if we must fight."
Oath's voice softened, his horns catching another faint glimmer of light as he finished. "And to the spirits who walk beside us, grant us your guidance. Let us not falter, even as the ground trembles and the sky darkens."
The ground beneath his paws trembled again, and Oath braced himself, ready to defend his family. There was a quiet fire in his gaze as he said, "Together, we are stronger."
The words weren't just to the Gods - they were a promise to his surrounded family.
