Nelu offered a small nod in reply to his brother's words. He would do his best to address this threat, massive and strange as it was. He had hoped by coming in from the side that it might be distracted enough to offer an opening. He was wrong.
As Nelu neared the worm whipped its massive body to the side, right towards him. It smashed into him with the greatest force he'd ever experienced. It was like running full speed into a stone wall and the force sent him flying. His body slammed into the ground, blistering pain cutting through his left wrist and he knew immediately it was broken. His body rolled with the force right to the edge of the cliff and he did everything he could to stop himself but he fell over anyway, sliding down rocks and earth, not realizing it had been a miracle to find even the faintest of slopes instead of plunging straight down.
Nelu hit the sand and laid there stunned. Pain radiated up his limb with such force it made his stomach turn. He took a deep, shuddering breath, forcing his thoughts past the pain. Everyone was still in danger. To give up the fight now would mean death and his father did not raise him to turn tail and flee. Forcing himself back onto his paws he could see the base of the worm where it rose up out of the water, its body slamming into the cliffside, sending rocks scattering down and making the land shake.
Several boulders fell into the water and out of the corner of his eye he saw a particular sharp looking fragment. Positioning himself to work with three legs, his injured one hanging in the air, he raced over to the stone shard, grabbing it in his teeth before charging toward the worm's underside where he could reasonably reach. He leapt onto the boulders, using them to gain access across the waves as he whipped his head to the side, seeking a slashing blow to the worm's underside.
