The Unraveling - Going Deeper

Was it...dead? It should be and in the quiet and still it certainly seemed to be, but Damira was...hesitant. As if it was all too good to be true. She padded forward slowly, brows furrowed and eyes staring, ready to turn and dash away at a moment's notice. Damira wouldn't get too close, but she had to know for sure, because all of this couldn't end with a question looming over head. She doubted they would ever know the whole picture, but she wouldn't be able to just go on with life knowing it was alive somewhere, that it might come back.

Ever so slowly and even more hesitantly, she tiptoed around the liquid pooling out on the ice. It was twitching, muscles jerking but it did not seem capable of more movement than that.
