No sooner does Scylla arrive, then Selkie hurls herself at her older sister. Trembling, shaking, clinging. A child, no more than a child who's been away from home for too long. Far, far away from home, and family, and safety. It's the first shred of relief that's come in months. Really, it's all Selkie can do to keep herself from crying as she sinks into her sister.
"I couldn't see daddy so sick, I had to go away." Trying to steady herself, though her voice is small. A girl who realized the world was far too large for her, and learned the hard way. "I went looking for any of our siblings, and just... I got lost. Lost, alone, I--" her voice cracks, the girl folding in on herself. "I couldn't do it, Scylla. I couldn't be something by myself." Defeated, her voice growing small. Stealing her sister's body heat, it's enough to chase the cold from her bones. Sodden and defeated, the girl just needs to be home.
