Coran honestly didn't remember how he'd gotten from the north all the way back home. Everything had been a blur, a haunting mess flickering in his periphery. He hadn't bothered leaving his den once he'd gotten settled in. He needed to stay there, to hide away there, for if he dared to step out he would almost certainly be in danger. There were more large worms out there waiting for him to set foot out of his shelter, he just knew it.
Coran's ears twitched as his buzzard companion arrived with a fresh kill, a rabbit that was set down nearby. He sighed, but couldn't quite bring himself to touch it. The bird headed back out of the den without another word and Coran reached up to scratch at one of the lumps that had appeared under his skin. He assumed it was a result from the injuries he'd sustained and thought little more of it.
When he heard familiar paw steps approaching he simply sighed, knowing full well those paw steps belonged to his brother Ardyn. Ardyn strode in, settling down at his side and while he was grateful for his brother's company he felt the sharp sting of shame.
Corna parted his lips, wetting them with his tongue as he pondered on his words. "I don't even know what to say, brother. It was just… so horrible. I've never seen such carnage. I've never seen… parts…parts of wolves just strewn so carelessly. Spirits, Ardyn, what if there are more of those things?"
