She steadied herself, ignoring the trickle of warmth spreading down her side, and shifted her weight onto her uninjured flank.

Focusing on her movements, Ella retaliated quickly, her eyes burning with a new ferocity inspired by the pain. She lunged forward, snapping her jaws toward Jynn's right foreleg, aiming a calculated bite at her ankle just above her paw. The move wasn't meant to cripple but to throw her opponent off balance and force her back, giving Ellara a moment to breathe and collect herself. Above, her owls swooped lower out of concern for their companion, their muted forms casting shadows over both of them while they monitored the end of their fight.
